Task 3

Task 3

Native advertising- Is paid content that matches a publication's editorial standards while meeting the audience's expectations.

A native advert is an advert in disguise.

Targeted advertising- It targets a niche group (small specific group) it uses cookies on your computer to search for appropriate adverts based on things you have searched.

Shoppable tags on Instagram

The main challenges faced by the advertising industry are:

  • Inactive accounts so if a company is paying to advertise to 1 million people and half of those are inactive it's a waste.

  • Making the advert entertaining to the viewer.

  • Competition as some adverts are more complex and innovative than another.

  • Some people are hostile to advertising as some advertising is like a invasion of our privacy.

Native advertising its usually more entertaining to the viewer as they will remember the advert as it was in disguise. Could also be less effective as if the advert is too long it becomes boring and it may have no link also people may stop watching till when it gets to the point.
